Programs and Projects
SAK has worked with need based plans and identifying thematic and programmatic areas to suit the needs of women in distress conditions and analyzing the policy environment in India. Since its inception it developed to strategic plans to work with a definite vision and mission so as to utilize its resources with plans and programs. The first Strategic Plan cum vision document was designed in 1998 for the period 1998 to 2017 (SAK Website Docs\Strategic Planning Document - Stree Aadhar Kemdra 1998 2019.pdf) which laid down the strategies and programs to work over the next twenty years. Implementing this document a need was felt to review the document and effect some additions to address changing trends in socio-economic and political conditions in country due to onslaught of economic reforms which had direct impact on status of women in society and at household level. There was increase in forms of violence against women especially cyber crimes, cross boarder trafficking, declining sex ratio, increased attack and abuse of girl children and female feticide. There was a need of addressing the gap between policies and their benefits to women and girls in their true letter and spirit. Although progressive laws were being enacted the institutional mechanisms were very poor and hence conviction rate was also very poor. On this backdrop SAK designed its second Strategic Plan for the period 2010 to 2015 (SAK Website Docs\SAK Strategic Plan 2010 15.pdf).
Following the strategic plans SAK broadly worked on Thematic Areas of Trafficking of women and girls, creating Zero Violence Zones to address VAW, Women's Empowerment and Gender Justice programs, Gender Responsive Budgeting, enhancing women's participation in governance and decision making and Engendering Disaster Management.
